The Service Authority is scheduled to begin flushing the areas of Dumfries/Triangle north of Possum Point Rd., Woodbridge, Greater Manassas/Yorkshire, Manassas Southside and Haymarket South of I-66 this week. Springtime water distribution system flushing is an industry best practice and helps remove sediment from the system as well as prevent bacterial growth as the weather gets warmer.
If you detect a slight chlorine smell in your tap water, fill a pitcher with water and leave it uncovered for about 2 hours to allow the odor to dissipate. If you notice brief periods of cloudiness in your water, run cold water from your tap for about two minutes. Click below to see specific locations and an FAQ about the flushing program.
