The Advisory Plans Examiner Board was established to enable Prince William County to engage in an expedited plan review process and a plans examiner program; said Board shall advise the Board of County Supervisors of the general operation, participation qualifications, and continuing educational requirements of the plans examiner program.

The CDA is organized for the purpose of exercising all powers granted by the Act, including financing, funding, planning, establishing, acquiring, constructing or reconstructing, enlarging, equipping, operating and maintaining all or a portion of the infrastructure improvements generally described in the Petition to create the CDA, as amended by addendum to Petition. The CDA shall have all the powers granted to a “community development authority” under the Act. Creation of an Authority to provide public facilities and improvements within the District through a special assessment; established in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding in conformance with Prince William County’s Policy Guidelines for Approval of the Creation of a CDA, Res. Community Action Agencies were created through the Federal Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. They were formed to address poverty in communities and to help low income families achieve economic stability or to reduce the impact of poverty on these families. These agencies come together in partnership known as Community Action Partnerships (CAP). The Prince William Board of County Supervisors designated People Incorporated of Virginia as the Greater Prince William Community Action Agency in order to use Community Services block grant funding to leverage grants and loans for projects and programs meant to enhance the self-sufficiency of low-income people. The People Incorporated Board of Directors makes policy decisions and is an important connection between the counties and cities that it serves.

The Advisory Board is comprised of eleven members who represent the interests of local tourism industry organizations and stakeholders within Prince William County and shall advise the BOCS, the County Executive and the Director of the Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism on matters related to promoting Prince William County as a tourism destination in accordance with Virginia Code Section 58.1-3819. The Advisory Board shall assist staff in the Prince William County Office of Tourism in identifying and securing new tourism opportunities.

The Veterans Commission was created and established on January 12, 2021, to work with veterans of the U.S. armed forces and their families, members of the community interested in veterans’ issues, and other veterans organizations working with and serving veterans of the U.S. armed forces to identify areas or issues of importance and/or concerns to the veterans community. The Veterans Commission will be encouraged to report such findings to the Board and make recommendation as it deems necessary and/or appropriate on how best to address veterans’ issues and concerns.
The Veterans Commission shall serve as an advisory group to the BOCS that advocates for issues related to veterans and their families.
Commission is coterminous and serves at the pleasure of the Board.
Virginia Career Works Northern Region
The Workforce Investment Act was signed into federal law in August 1998. The Act required nationwide implementation by July 1, 2000. The Commonwealth then enacted legislation creating the Virginia Workforce Council and a process for appointing members to local Workforce Development Boards (WDBs). The members appointed to represent Prince William County on the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Area (NVWIA) will be responsible for establishing a workforce development system that cuts across state and local agency lines to deliver customer driven service through universal access. The new Workforce Development System promotes sustained growth by meeting the demand of businesses for a skilled workforce and delivers quality services to every Northern Virginia resident.
