County school system seeks boundary planning volunteers

Written by: What’s Up Prince William

Many changes are coming to Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).

Next year, PWCS is planning to open “Prince William Parkway” Elementary School.

Rooms are also being added to several elementary schools — Lake Ridge, Springwoods, Minnieville and Leesylvania.

To prepare for the new school and expanded facilities, the school system will be making boundary changes that will go into effect during the 2019-20 year.

PWCS is seeking volunteers who will serve on a boundary planning committee.

Committee members will be responsible for developing proposals for the School Board’s review.

They will consider several factors, including enrollment, transportation, demographics and real estate information.

Meetings will be held once a week in November and December.

The committee will present boundary proposals at two community meetings that are scheduled for 7 p.m. on November 19 at Lake Ridge Middle School and 7 p.m. on December 3 at Woodbridge High School.

To serve on the committee, fill out the online application form or call 703-791-7312 by October 28.

For questions, contact Supervisor of Planning Matthew Cartlidge by emailing CartliMR@pwcs.edu or calling 703.791.7312.
