The Prince William County Planning Office is working in partnership with a consulting team to update the policies of the Land Use, Housing and Mobility components of the County’s Pathway to 2040 Comprehensive Plan. As part of the Land Use element, the County will focus on activity centers, re-development in general commercial areas and land use incompatibilities. This process is a continuation of the update effort that began in 2018. In coordination with the Comprehensive Plan updates, the Planning Office and consultant will prepare small area plans for the Yorkshire, Fairgrounds and Bethlehem Road areas.
The 2040 Comprehensive Plan will guide the future growth, redevelopment and preservation of the County, as well as guide investment in future public infrastructure. The small area plans will provide detailed, geographically focused visions for the three areas listed above.
Over the coming months, the public will have multiple opportunities to get involved in the planning process, provide input to guide both the Comprehensive Plan and small area plans, and learn more about these efforts. Input will be collected through a variety of community engagement activities.
