PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA… Following an extensive national search, the County Executive appointed Dr. Gwendolyn J. Conner of Columbia, SC, for the Human Resources Director position. The Board of County Supervisors concurred with the County Executive’s recommendation. Dr. Conner will begin the position effective Jan. 13, 2020.

With more than a decade of experience serving as a Human Resources Director in local government and public school systems, Conner possesses the leadership, resolve and flexibility to function effectively as a strategic partner as she leads a comprehensive human resources service program. She brings the knowledge, experience and ability to help lead Prince William County Government’s efforts in maintaining its prominence as an ideal workplace where staff proudly serves the Prince William community.
“The effectiveness of county government relies upon the ability to attract and retain skilled and dedicated employees,” said Ann Wheeler, Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. “I am confident that Dr. Conner’s leadership will allow Prince William County to continue its success in hiring and retaining candidates who are able to bring about the results our citizens expect from their local government.”

Dr. Conner has received recognition and numerous honors at the local, state and national level for her contributions to her community and profession. She was named Personnel Administrator of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. She also published an article, “The Role of Human Resources Administrators in Transforming Public Education in South Carolina.” Dr. Conner earned her Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Conflict Resolution and her M.S. in HR Management with a minor in Organizational Development from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She is also a graduate of Limestone College, Gaffney, SC, with a B.S. in Business Administration and minor in Management.
